Zurich/Switzerland, June 15, 2009 - The Official 7 Wonders of Portuguese Origin in the World were announced on June 10 at a spectacular gala ceremony in the city of Portimão, in the presence of New7Wonders Founder and President Bernard Weber.

The Official 7 Wonders of Portuguese Origin in the World were recently chosen by a quarter of a million votes cast online, by phone, or by text message. At the ceremony, a new national campaign was announced for 2010, to elect the Official 7 Natural Wonders of Portugal.

New7Wonders officially confirmed and accepted results in Portugal
On behalf of New7Wonders, Bernard Weber, Founder and President of the New7Wonders Foundation, officially received and recognized the results of the Official 7 Wonders of Portuguese Origin election at the gala on June 10 in the Portimão Arena, in Portugal’s Algarve region.

The Official 7 Wonders
of Portuguese Origin in the World are:

• Mazagão Fortress (Morocco),
• Bom Jesus Basilica in Goa (India),
• Santiago Old Town (Cape Verde),
• St. Paul Church in Macao (China),
• St. Francis of Assisi Convent in Ouro Preto (Brazil)
• St. Francis Convent in S. Salvador da Baía (Brazil)
